First the unpleasant news: boiler subsidies, which people in Ostrava keep asking about, ended in 2024 and the Moravian-Silesian Region has not issued a new call for 2026. Anyone waiting for them to return may wait a long time.
Next up are the nationwide Nové zelené úsporám programmes. The condition is the same for both and worth knowing before you start calculating: only air-conditioning that also heats is supported. A unit bought solely to cool a bedroom in August does not qualify for either programme.
When a subsidy for air conditioning is available and when it is not
There is no subsidy for air conditioning units designed solely for cooling. Subsidies are available for air-to-air heat pumps, i.e., air conditioners with a heating function used for space heating.
Installation must be carried out by a company authorised to handle regulated substances (F-gases) in accordance with Act No. 73/2012 Coll. - otherwise the subsidy will not be granted even if all other conditions are met.

What this means for Ostrava
In Ostrava, there are many homes that still rely on coal or old boilers for heating, in Hrabová, Radvanice, Petřkovice and Michálkovice. Precisely in these areas, an air conditioner with a heating function makes sense financially: it reduces heating costs, and low-income households can access subsidies of up to 100 000 Kč.
Conversely, in apartment blocks in Poruba or Fifejdy, do not worry about subsidies. The programmes target owners of detached houses, and you will have to finance the installation in your flat entirely yourself. However, the acquisition cost of the installation does not change, and we will tell you this straight away over the phone.
What we provide for the application
- certificate of authorisation for handling regulated substances (F-gases)
- technical parameters of the installed unit including the heating factor
- documents confirming installation and commissioning
The grant provider alone decides on the award of the subsidy. We do not guarantee its approval; we assist with technical documentation and installation certificates.
Frequently asked questions about subsidies
Will boiler subsidies return in the Moravian-Silesian Region?
As of August 2026, the region has not issued a new call. The last, fifth round ended in August 2024. We are monitoring the situation and if the region issues a new call, we will update this page. Until then, only the nationwide programmes described above apply.
How much of the installation cost will the subsidy cover?
For NZÚ Light, the subsidy for an air-to-air heat pump is up to 100 000 Kč, which covers a large part of the costs for a standard single- or dual-split installation. The exact amount depends on the scope; after surveying, we will provide the price and state how much of it the subsidy would theoretically cover.
Will I receive a subsidy for an air conditioner that only cools?
No. There is no subsidy for air conditioning units intended solely for cooling. Subsidies are available for air-to-air heat pumps, i.e., air conditioners with a heating function used for space heating. If you are purchasing the unit purely for summer cooling, it does not qualify for subsidy programmes.
Must installation be carried out by a company with F-gas certification?
Installation must be carried out by a company authorised to handle regulated substances (F-gases) in accordance with Act No. 73/2012 Coll. - otherwise the subsidy will not be granted even if all other conditions are met.
Do you guarantee that I will receive the subsidy?
The grant provider alone decides on the award of the subsidy. We do not guarantee its approval; we assist with technical documentation and installation certificates.
The data on this page was last verified on 6 August 2026 with official sources (NZÚ Light, NZÚ loan). Grant conditions change throughout the year, if you spot any discrepancy, let us know and we will correct it.
